Software engineer.
Hair stylist in a past life.
When I’m not writing code, I’m probably making hats.

A note from the editor

Welcome to my corner of the internet, a notebook of software engineering notes and an archive of a decade I spent in salons and backstage with a curling iron. I write things down here because I want them written down, and because I have been told, more than once, that this combination of interests is unusual enough to be worth a website.

By day I build production systems in Elixir and Phoenix. In a previous decade I was a licensed cosmetologist with editorial credits I am still quietly proud of. The hands that used to braid for runway shows and photo shoots now write code, cut leather, and steam straw for hats.

Surprisingly, writing a component is close to cutting a fringe or blocking a brim: you commit to a shape, you respect the material, and you do not flinch when it is time to commit.
